Irene Valenzuela, MD
Irene Valenzuela is a Medical Genetics doctor working in Hospital Vall d’Hebron, Barcelona, Spain.
She studied first biology at the University Pompeu Fabra and then achieved a masters degree in genetic counseling. She worked two years as a genetic counselor in Hospital Vall d’Hebron and obtained the EBMG as certified genetic counsellor. After that, she studied medicine at the University Autónoma of Barcelona prior to training in Paediatrics.
Since 2017 she’s been working in clinical genetics in hospital Vall d’Hebron. She has been investigating conditions associated with learning disabilities since 2017, and has published widely in this area, with a particular interest in research aimed at achieving a diagnosis in undiagnosed patients.
Regarding ReNU syndrome, she is involved in the clinical follow-up of 11 persons with this condition in Spain, and is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish ReNU Syndrome Association.
